START EM/ SIT EM - Week 5

START 'EM

QB's
-Bye Week QB's - Brady, Henne, Hasselbeck, Batch

1. Eli Manning NYG - Playing at Houston this week, Manning takes on a Texans defense that is dead last against the pass (338 yards per game). With the return of Brian Cushing, the Texans will have more "pep" in their step, but this matchup is too favorable for Manning and for fantasy owners that can start him.

2. Ryan Fitzpatrick BUFF - Playing a home game against the Jaguars, one that many think will be the Bills first win of the season, Fitzpatrick has a favorable matchup with the Jaguars secondary that is allowing 304 yards per game (30th in NFL). I like this opportunity for Fitzpatrick as the Bills need this game badly, and the Jaguars are coming off a huge win last week against Indianapolis. If you are in a 2 QB league, or missed the waiver wire this week, Fitzpatrick is a good pickup.

Sit 'Em

1. Kyle Orton DEN - He is going against the Ravens defense in Baltimore that is only allowing 120 passing yards per game! I would be extremely cautious in using Orton this week, this is a bad game for the Broncos.

START 'EM

RB's

1. CJ Spiller/ Fred Jackson BUFF - The Jaguars are coming off a big win against Indianapolis last week and they won't be prepared for a desperate home team with big time energy going for their first win. I love Jackson and Spiller, I think Jackson will get teh most touches, but Spiller will be incorporated into the offense with screens, dump-offs, and tosses.

2. Cedric Benson CIN - He has been USELESS this season, under performing, and a let down. Not this week. Huge week for CED BENZ. START HIM, and expect a big game as the Bengals are in must-win mode at home following a very disappointing divisional loss to the Browns last week. The Buccaneers won't be ready for Ced.

Sit 'Em

1. DeAngelo Williams CAR - Williams will be going against the Bears stout run defense, and expect eight guys in the box at all times to prevent the Panthers ground attack from having any success against the Bears run-defense.

START 'EM

WR's

1. Hakeem Nicks NYG - The Texans pass defense is the worst in the NFL, Eli will be passing a lot in this one and he will be taking shots down the field. Nicks hands seem like they have glue on them this season, start him and look for a very productive performance out of him.

2. Lee Evans BUFF - This is Buffalo's week. I am expecting a big let down performance from Jacksonville, and Evans and Fitzpatrick always hook up with deep passes when they play in front of the Buffalo faithful. If you need a #2-3 receiver / Flex guy, Evans is your man.

Sit 'Em
1. Brandon Lloyd DEN - Against the best pass defense in the league, Orton will struggle to complete passes to his main target, and this will be his let down week of what has been a terrific start to the season.

Dolphins shock the Jets

Who would have predicted the Dolphins would physically dominate Rex Ryan's Jets. Kudos to you. The Jets, who I predicted to win by 10, were thoroughly beaten this game. Chad Henne stood upright all night, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams ran the Wildcat to perfection, and Pat White even got some time. The Dolphins showed the other NFL teams that they are not out of it just yet. With Henne's ability to throw the ball down field, their tremendous run game, and their new-found swagger, this team is a scary one to face once they come back from their bye week. Job well done Dolphins.

Jets vs Dolphins

Lay the points tonight as the Jets will take down the Dolphins in Miami.

The New York Jets take on the Miami Dolphins tonight in Miami. This is the second straight road game for the Jets, and the second straight home game for the Dolphins. It is also the week before the Dolphins bye week so this has "TRAP GAME" written all over it for anyone taking the 3 points.

Mark Sanchez will bounce back from a dismal game against the Saints last week in New Orleans. Impressively enough, the Jets defense only allowed 10 points to the high-flying offense of the Saints. When you see the box score of that game, 24 points jumps out at you, but 14 of those points were scored off of a fumble and interception returned for a touchdown. In the 4 games this season, the Jets defense has shut down teams. Flat out shut down offenses.

The Texans, known for their passing game with Schaub and Johnson, were limited to 7 points and only 166 yards through the air AT HOME. Tom Brady, who had never lost in the Meadowlands in his entire career, suffered his first loss and was held to 9 points and only a 53.1 QB Rating. The Titans, known for the tremendous ground attack with White and Johnson, only managed a combined 124 rushing yards and 48 of them were in the 4th quarter. Of the 124 yards, on 29 attempts they only had 2 rushes of more than 10 yards. Interestingly enough, the Jets won the game. And finally the Saints offense. Drew Brees, arguably one of the top 3 hottest quarterbacks coming into the Week 4 game, was held to 190 yards which was only 6 yards per attempt. The Saints offense only had 3 points through the first 54 minutes of the game. A late Pierre Thomas rushing touchdown made it 10 total points.

Now let's look at the Dolphins offense. This is a run-first pass-second offense. With the injury to Chad Pennington, Chad Henne has taken over the reins and was efficient in his first outing against the Bills last week. When your offense rushes for 250 yards on 45 attempts and controls the ball for 37 minutes, you should win the game. The Bills were so tentative on defense because of the Dolphins ground game and they STILL sacked Henne 6 times. The Jets will play man coverage on the Dolphins receivers all game allowing them to stack the box and blitz the Dolphins ground game. Henne will get eatin' up by the Jets linemen and linebackers. He will hold the ball too long, and either fumble or make mistakes throwing the ball too early or too late. The Jets defense is extremely active and hard to read at the line of scrimmage. The Dolphins will have to do everything they can to run the ball successfully, but they will be forced to pass the ball. This is why I do not see this being a good game for the Dolphins. Looking forward to the bye week when your playing such a physical team does not bode well for Tony Sparano's squad.

The Jets defense will not allow a second straight loss. Mark Sanchez will rally around his team and put up decent, not great, numbers against a very good Dolphins defense. I think Jerricho Cotchery and Dustin Keller will have solid games as the Jets will pass the ball against this Dolphins secondary that is allowing 238 yards per game through the air, which is 24th worst in the NFL entering Week 5. Lay the points with the Jets this week. Rex Ryan will have his team very prepared to lay a defensive beat down on the Dolphins. I like the Jets by 10.
